DESCRIPTION: Our client currently seeks a hands-on Accounting Manager to join their firm. Responsibilities include: oversee the payroll process, which includes approximately 300 checks on a weekly basis, answer questions about time cards, calculate and record payroll taxes, manual checks, voids, W-2 runs, preparation of magnetic media reports on a quarterly and annual basis, etc.; become familiar with the MAS 90 computer accounting system; perform monthly closing process, including recording of adjusting journal entries, reconciliations of accounts and preparation of financial statements; handle monthly sales tax reporting; calculate bonuses for account executives; work with outside accountants and pension consultants relating to administration of pension plan; work closely with Operations Manager relating to workers' compensation claims and issues.
NOTE: There is no relocation assistance available for this position.
REQUIREMENTS: 5+ years of heavy accounting or bookkeeping experience (a college degree IS NOT required), including extensive experience in the payroll area; strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (Access knowledge is a plus); in-depth working knowledge of general ledger computer software packages (knowledge of MAS 90 is a plus); ability to handle the monthly closing process, from recording adjusting journal entries through the preparation of monthly internal financial statements; detail-oriented, enjoys being hands-on and getting into the details of accounting, administrative and operational issues; able to work independently.
