Manager of Cost Accounting :

DESCRIPTION: Our client, a large Fortune 500 global manufacturer, is currently seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team. You will interact heavily with personnel in the manufacturing and production process as well as the Corporate Controllers group. You will be an important financial team member, providing valuable cost accounting financial information that will be used to make business decisions that directly impact the company's profits. Travel may be required to manufacturing plants in order to accomplish the company's goals.

Responsibilities include: Develop and maintain standard cost systems in accordance with GAAP; monitor actual shop rates against baseline parameters; identify major drivers creating unfavorable performance and estimate cost exposures; work with manufacturing personnel to develop, prioritize, implement and monitor the effectiveness of specific cost standards; prepare variance analysis and provide reliable overhead costs and rates; assess business conditions which affect material cost, labor cost, volume, cost reduction, etc.; design, develop and implement procedures and policies for cost accounting; contribute on a variety of teams designed to simplify/streamline the costing process and/or program cost reporting; be a change agent and identify areas in which the unit can improve.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance; 5+ years of progressive cost accounting and inventory experience in a manufacturing environment; strong computer systems, analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with people at all levels of the organization. CPA or advanced degree preferred.
